The simultaneous work carried out on the 8th is to supply LNG fuel to ships unloading cargo, which is an essential condition for the LNG bunkering business as it can reduce additional docking time and costs for fuel supply.
Simultaneous LNG bunkering work is being carried out at major ports around the world, and last year, Korea LNG Bunkering Co., Ltd. succeeded in simultaneous LNG bunkering work on a bulk carrier unloading coal at the raw material dock of Gwangyang Steel Works.
Korea LNG Bunkering Co., Ltd. transported LNG from Korea Gas Corporation's Tongyeong production base to the 'Blue Whale' and delivered approximately 300 tons of LNG to the CMA-CGM VISBY, which was unloading containers at Pier 5 of Busan New Port, via STS (Ship to Ship). It was supplied by ship.
This work was carried out in response to CMA-CGM, one of the world's three largest shipping companies based in France, requesting simultaneous LNG bunkering work from Korea LNG Bunkering Co., Ltd., in cooperation with related organizations such as the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, Busan Port Authority, and Korea Register of Shipping. The bunkering work was completed safely after close prior cooperation.
A KOGAS official said, “With the success of the simultaneous LNG bunkering work for container ships, Korea LNG Bunkering Co., Ltd. has further solidified its position as a leading LNG bunkering company,” adding, “We will continue to promote LNG bunkering to accelerate the eco-friendly transition of the domestic shipping industry.” “We will do our best to strengthen the competitiveness of national ports,” he said.
